Ballarat Mental Health Services

Grampians FaPMI Coordinator is a 0.5 position sitting within the Primary Mental Health Team at the Ballarat Health Services. This service was funded & established in 2009 with the role filled in May 2009.

The service covers the whole of the Grampians region, along the Western Highway from Bacchus Marsh to Horsham and surrounding areas. (approximately 47,000 square kms). It works within ten local government areas, along side one Area Mental Health Service and two Child FIRST offices.

While still in the early days of service provision, the FaPMI coordinator works closely with Mental Health Services & Network Partners to develop a service provision that best reflects the needs of the region.

FaPMI is:
  • Currently providing secondary and tertiary consultation for Child FIRST staff and network liaising with other services
  • Working to establish the provision of resources to workers and families
  • Developing appropriate education for Mental Health staff & other relevant disciplines
  • Working with other Mental Health educators to deliver programs in schools and to children living with parental mental illness
  • Preparation to introduce peer support programs
2010 promises to be busy and exciting as we work to reduce the impact of parental mental illness, together.
