South-West Health Psychiatric Services
The FaPMI Coordinator is based at South West Healthcare Psychiatric Services Division in Warrnambool. She has been in the position since February 2009 on a half time basis (0.5eft). The Psychiatric Services Division has sites in Portland, Camperdown, Hamilton and Warrnambool.
Recent work in the region includes:
- Completion of a draft audit showing parenting prevalence among clients of the service
- FaPMI Resource kits for each of the 5 adult mental health teams with books and other resources for clinicians to use with parents and children of different ages. The kit includes the COPMI booklets, picture books for young children, reading books on mental illness for primary school children and adolescents and St Luke’s resources for working with families.
- Secondary consultation with Child First and adult mental health clinicians
- A mental training needs analysis with Child First and Integrated Family Services agencies in order to plan a training calendar for the year.
- A follow-up parenting education session for Psychiatric Services clients in Portland run by Centacare.
