Aboriginal Family Therapy Training Program: Evaluation & Impact

Posted 21st October 2016

Family Therapy Indigenous Program

The Bouverie Centre's Indigenous Team recently developed an Evidence Brief and Impact Analysis Report on The Bouverie Centre's Aboriginal Family Therapy Training Program, which includes the Postgraduate Certificate in Family Therapy. The program has been growing steadily over the years with support from partner organisations and the community.

The Program, offered since 2008, is designed to introduce students to family therapy theories and practice, with an emphasis on maintaining sensitivity to families’ needs and experiences. It is delivered within the community and is largely available to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander child, family and health workers; with provision for the community to invite non-Aboriginal workers.
