Acquired Brain Injury Team
Established in 1984, The Bouverie Centre’s ABI team provides a state-wide specialist services to families and professionals dealing with Acquired Brain Injury resulting from situations such as accidents or illness. Core functions include direct counselling services to families, consultation and training services to professionals and research on family adjustment to ABI.
The ABI team is funded by Disability Services of the Department of Human Services. The team consists of experienced family therapists specialising in the provision of support for families coping with ABI.
The team relies on a mix of core funding and externally generated funds to support its activities. The Bouverie Centre’s ABI team is committed to supporting workers/agencies throughout Victoria to work more effectively with families coping with the impact of ABI.
A brochure outlining support services to ABI organisations and related services is available from the Bouverie Centre. Counselling is provided to families by experienced ABI team members.
