Graduate Certificate in Family Therapy

There are six DHS-funded places available for rural ABI workers in the Graduate Certificate in Family Therapy for 2009.

The Graduate Certificate in Family Therapy aims to:

•    Provide specialist clinical training for rural workers on family therapy approaches to working with families affected by ABI;
•    Increase access to emotional support for isolated rural families affected by ABI; and
•    Support regional development of family work through ongoing consultation / support of trainees.

To be eligible for funding, applications must be working with non-compensable clients and their families in rural Victoria.  Applicants  may be in a variety of service systems such as mental health, juvenile justice, and AOD.  Along with post-graduate training, ongoing mentoring and consultation will be provided to the worker, their organization and the region for a period of two years.  Workers across Victoria who have a commitment to improving family work practices in their agency / region are strongly encouraged to apply.

The closing date for applications for entry into the 2009 course is 31 October 2008.

Please direct enquiries to Nella Charles or Naomi Rottem (ABI Professional Training Program Co-ordinators) at The Bouverie Centre on (03) 9385 5100.
