The Community Services Team has provided consultation, training and service development to a wide range of health and welfare services. Our work is based on systemic principles, and informed and inspired by our Family Therapy values.
The team grew out of a successful series of projects starting in 1994, with Community Health Counselling that lead to a staggering 84% implementation rate (formal and informal) of Single Session Work.
Most recently, we have engaged in intensive collaborative workforce development, focused on articulating, documenting, and promoting best practice in drought counselling work across Victoria. We are about to embark on a collaborative action research project with the Victorian Alcohol and Drug Service to identify and amplify family work where it exists in services (Beacon Sites). We will also invite services to collaboratively implement family based approaches developed by the Bouverie Centre. The aim of this project is to facilitate the AOD field to develop pragmatic, ethical, and sustainable family friendly approaches to clinical practice that are sensitive to the needs of individual organisations and the clients they serve.
The overall aim of the team is to promote contextually compassionate health services, based on constructive relationships between management, staff, clients, and families. By building upon social values and good work already happening in services, The Bouverie Centre hopes to assist organisations to amplify their strengths to their highest level.
The Community Services Team is keen to explore future collaborations with public health and welfare sectors.
