Deadbeat Dad DVD
See two very different family therapy interviews conducted by our most experienced family therapists. Dead Beat Dad shows Dr. Colin Riess and Robyn Miller conduct the first session with separated parents, Jude a nurse and Alex a free-lance writer, trying to help their 14 year old son Ryan, who has been getting into trouble with the police and has recently been suspended from his second school. The family is played by professional actors who have come together to act in a play by Jose Marques, called “Dead Beat Dad”, where they play the same roles of Jude, Alex and Ryan.
The DVD demonstrates the solution oriented approach (Dr. Riess) and the sensitive exploration of the hurts and resilience of the family (Robyn Miller). There is also footage of the actors in dialogue with the therapists and the audience. This is an ideal teaching resource.

The ‘F’Word DVD – Consumer Perspective’s on Family Involvement in Mental Health Care
The involvement of families in the treatment of adults experiencing mental health problems is now widely promoted as a key element in providing mental health services. Yet for family inclusion to have the best chance of working well for all parties, professionals need to be sensitive to the issues for consumers of having their family or friends participate in their care.
This 28 minute DVD explores the perspectives and personal experiences of four consumer advocates of family involvement in treatment. In a group and in one-on-one interviews these consumers describe the benefits of family inclusion, how family involvement can go wrong and the advice they would give to mental health professionals about how to constructively include families and friends in care.

Take Aways
Do you ever wonder what clients take away from your sessions?
Self duplicating take aways are a simple and convenient way for your clients to record what they want to take away from a therapeutic encounter. Resembling a doctor’s prescription pad, take aways automatically provide a duplicate copy for workers which can be placed in client files, creating a client generated file within the worker generated file. “I organise the next appointment time, then ask each family member to take a few moments to reflect and record what they will take from the session. It extends the impact of the session and it’s intriguing to discover what each person takes away.” Therapist
Other uses of take aways…
· Summarise the main points of a busy session.
· Prescription of self-care.
· Record home work tasks and next steps.
· Review take aways to notice and promote progress and change.
“The take aways are great. I’ve kept them all. A lot happens in a session... it’s good to go away with strategies” Client
Take aways can even be used as an evaluation tool for meetings and workshops. Participants record their take home message and presenters get to keep a copy.
Each pad contains 50 take aways (in duplicate).
For every pad ordered, you will receive 10 covers to give clients to keep their take aways in.
You can order take away pads with your own logo on them, or the standard version.

Zen and the Heart of Psychotherapy
In the midst of our busy activity, people often feel fragmented. We experience conflicting demands from our work, our personal relationships, our families, and our spiritual practice. In this book, the author - a practicing psychotherapist Robert Rosenbaum - explores the challenges & joys of making life into a coherent whole.
Psychotherapy addresses a sense of fragmentation in an effort to help us be uniquely ourselves. Zen Buddhist practice insists we find ourselves on every moment of our lives; it speaks to the basic connectedness of all things. This book attempts to integrate the two. Each chapter examines some aspect of sewing together the practice of Zen with the realization of psychotherapy, and its implications for daily life. Though there is a logical progression to the chapters, each chapter can be read on its own if the reader is interested in how a particular text might inform their psychotherapy or life circumstances.
