The Bouverie Centre has developed a range of services to help organisations develop a family sensitive practice culture and to support professionals in their ongoing work with families and other carers.
Services include:
- Training and Service Development Initiatives in specialist areas (Family Sensitive Training in Mental Health, Community Health, Acquired Brain Injury, Sexual Abuse & Trauma and Breaking Through in Schools);
- Consultation Services;
- Onsite Training - Design your own training course for your own organisation; and
- Bouverie Centre Based Training - The Continuing Education Program.
A ‘one off’ primary and secondary consultation service is available free to mental health practitioners who are seeking assistance in their work with families. The Bouverie Centre also offers a service directly to families affected by mental illness who want some new ideas about their situation or perhaps want a ‘check up’ for their family relationships. Videoconferencing is available to rural services.

Whilst originally designed for mental health services, the Get Together FaST program can be adapted to any health service interested in creating a culture of greater family sensitivity. The state-wide Family Sensitive Practitioners Group supports mental health clinicians (nominated by their service) who are interested in promoting Family Sensitive Practice within their organisation. The group, which meets four times a year, also provides a great opportunity for participants to ‘swap notes’ about their successes and struggles in developing family based services within their organisations.
