Welcome to The Bouverie Centre: Victoria's Family Institute’s virtual hub. We hope this new website will help us communicate with you better and make our services and resources more accessible. The Bouverie Centre is a values-driven learning organisation, which means we continuously endeavour to conduct all our activities in line with our stated values and are constantly learning from our clients, colleagues and funders – that’s you! We have created the site with you in mind, so please take the time to give us feedback about what we are doing right and what we could do better.

Our interest is in promoting contextually compassionate human services with a focus on family and systemic approaches specifically in Mental Health, Alcohol and Other Drugs, Gambling and related fields. This focus is largely determined by our funders (our ongoing core funders, Mental Health, Department of Health and Human Services, Victoria; our current major project funders, headspace and DHHS; and our many important smaller funders).

The Bouverie Centre is part of La Trobe University. We combine clinical family therapy, model development, academic teaching, qualitative and quantitative research, workforce development and community education in one integrated service.

Our work focuses on the fundamental role of the family and alternative social networks in the healing process and the power of relationships to foster social, emotional, spiritual and mental wellbeing. If you are also interested in this pursuit or want to experience our services, find a way to link up with us!
